Hi, I'm josh blakemore
I'm a dedicated food photographer based in the West Midlands, I have been passionate about photography since I got my first camera over 8 years ago. I started out learning the ropes by photographing everything from landscapes to water droplets.
I have spent over 14 years working in the catering industry as a chef so food has been a huge part of my life, to be a good chef you have to be creative & driven, the same also applies to food photography. I decided to bring my 2 passions together and began shooting food.
I have photographed all genres of photography and quickly realised that food was my passion, I have experimented with a lot of styles over the years thinking I needed to find my 'photographer style'. The truth is, I don't want a particular style to my images, I do what feels right for each client.
MY PHOTOGRAPHY
I'm a food photographer, because of this I don't do any other photography such as weddings, family or newborn shoots. Some photographers market themselves as a "jack of all trades" whereas I prefer to focus on a specific area of photography and perfect it. My photography is more than just pointing a camera and clicking, I carefully arrange my lighting set up for each product or service, help to style the food if needed or build a set for the product and try to ensure the feel of the image is just right before I hit the shutter release.
I love having fun with food & photography, in my food portfolio you will see a mix of traditional rustic food shots alongside some more colourful, bold & experimental shots.
Of course my experience with food spans over a decade so with me, you get more than just photos, I understand the industry, I know how many hours chefs and development teams put into a new product because I have been there and done it. I have always been a firm believer that people eat with their eyes... what better way to feed them than with beautiful, high resolution, professional images?
